This is the blog of a Man 34 living in a city he is learning to love, meeting people he doesn't understand, loving dogs who cant talk back, trying to live a greener life, yearing for 'fireside' moments with someone he's not found and basically just getting on with a life full of fun, anger, fear, love, Kylie and contradiction the best he can – just like everyone else – obviously.
Behind Bars
Somewhat foolishly, on what was meant to be an amusing internet ramble I typed ‘Animals From Behind’ into Google. What I wanted was images of funny, beautiful, cute animals to create a comparison gallery for Man Vs Wild – What I got brought me to tears by the third picture.
I get it, I really do – Animal rights is an uncomfortable subject, It is difficult to hear someone telling you that the cow that made the burger you have just eaten spent years of their life in misery, sometimes not seeing daylight, maybe killed agonisingly and all the time treated like a commodity to be realised and not a living being. I will never stop pointing it out though until the suffering stops.
Animal abuse comes in all shapes and sizes, from domestic, to farm, to Zoo’s, to laboratories, to the wild it is widespread – sadly while human suffering is also so widespread it is unlikely to change anytime soon if the majority of able humans don’t start to make better choices. If you have switched off at this point then fine, I have some other stuff on this blog that’s fun and fluffy but life deals in the rough and the smooth and it is only us – intelligent, socially mobile, relatively wealthy people that can make a difference – so maybe if you don’t want to see the reality of animals behind bars then skip to the bottom, pick a link and then make a choice to do something different.

They are not extreme or graphic sites so don’t be afraid if confronting graphic reality is not your thing! Although I cannot promise you won’t be a different person in some tiny way after reading some of them.
